Healthcare Expert Vita Cassese Joins Exigen Capital

Former VP of Business Development and Innovation at Pfizer to Focus on Building Business in Healthcare Sector

 — Exigen Capital, a transformational private equity fund, today announced that Vita Cassese has joined the firm as an Operating Partner. Cassese, who is based in New York, is focused on vetting and securing investment opportunities in the healthcare and technology sectors.

"Ms. Cassese brings 30 years of experience guiding business strategies for leading companies in both the healthcare and tech fields," said Greg Shenkman, Managing Partner of Exigen Capital. "Her in-depth knowledge of the health and tech sectors, as well as her relationships, will provide us with a wealth of knowledge as we seek to expand our investments in these industries."

Cassese comes to Exigen Capital from Pfizer, Inc., where she served as the Vice President, Business Development, Strategy and Innovation. Prior to Pfizer, she served as CIO for Worldwide Pharmaceuticals, leading an organization of nearly 1,000 people in 44 countries. While there, she was a member of the Worldwide Pharmaceuticals Leadership Team that was responsible for long-term business strategy. She established industry-leading partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, Intel, and IBM. She also played a key role on the "due diligence" and integration teams during the Warner Lambert and Pharmacia acquisitions. Additionally, she formerly served as Vice President of Business Technology and Market Research for the US Pharmaceuticals Group.

Cassese is a member of the Teradata Advisory Board, the Sierra Capital Ventures (PE) CIO Advisory Board, and formerly served on Microsoft's Pharmaceuticals Advisory Board. In 2007, she was named one of the top 25 CIOs of the year by CIO Insight Magazine. Cassese has authored articles and has been profiled in numerous industry publications including Computerworld, CIO, and Optimize Magazine.

In addition to her work within the healthcare and technology industries, Cassese also maintains an extensive academic resume. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Mount St. Vincent, has been a guest lecturer at NYU Stern School of Business, MIT Sloan School of Business, and Boston University, and is a mentor at Columbia University. Cassese holds a BA in Mathematics from the College of Mount St. Vincent and an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business.
